Karl Brandmeir, Ph.D
Karl Brandmeir, Ph.D., is presently celebrating over 25 years in the
food & beverage industry as both a much sought after Consultant and
Karl has been an industry professional in the casino, hotel, food &
beverage operations with his most recent position being the Corporate
Director of Food & Beverage Special Projects at Harrah’s Entertainment,
Inc., headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Prior to that, from 1995 to 1998, he was with the Patriot American
Hospitality /Wyndham International, Houston office, both as a Director
of Food & Beverage operations at the property level and as Regional
Director of Food & Beverage for the Western United States and Canada.
Brandmeir began his career in the hospitality industry in 1969 and
became the Assistant Director
of Food & Beverage at the Le Meridien Hotel in New Orleans, Louisiana.
His interest in the hospitality industry propelled him to succeed and
He studied Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management at Washington
State University, Pullman, Washington, Master of Science (Hotel
Administration) and Doctor of Philosophy (Hotel Administration) studies
were conducted at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. At that time he
also conducted field research concerning residents in assisted living
facilities and food safety in the catering industry.
Brandmeir then began his teaching career in 2000 as an Instructor at the
University of Las Vegas, Nevada. There he spent five years teaching
courses in hotel and restaurant management and international tourism.
Currently, at the International University of Applied Sciences Bad
Honnef Bonn, Germany, he is teaching courses in the hospitality area,
specifically restaurant management, kitchen management, rooms division
operations, casino operations management.
He has also lent his expertise by working as a Consultant with Wynn
Resorts and Casino Food & Beverage Solutions.
